“Paradise Square” has canceled performances through April 10, the production announced Friday.
The show is planning to resume performances on April 12, according to a statement from producers. The decision to cancel more shows is attributed to “Broadway COVID protocols established by the industry.”
This follows the production’s cancellation of its April 7 performance due to the detection of COVID-19 cases in the company.
“Paradise Square” opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on April 3. The new musical has played 23 previews and 3 regular performances to date.
New York City productions have seen a rise in canceled performances and positive cases in recent days. “Macbeth” and “A Strange Loop” have canceled performances this week, both planning to perform next on April 11. “Plaza Suite” has canceled performances through April 10 after both Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick tested positive for the virus. Off-Broadway productions, including “Suffs” and “Heartland,” have also been affected by the recent surge, leading to missed performances.
