“Paradise Square” has extended its performance cancellations and now plans to resume April 19.
The new musical has been dark since April 7 after the detection of positive COVID-19 cases in the company. The production had planned to resume performances April 16, but extended its timeline after additional cases were discovered.
“We had every intention of resuming performances on Saturday, April 16, but suddenly, last evening, a principal actor tested positive as have the two understudies for the role, leaving us without a path forward to perform this holiday weekend,” said producer Garth Drabinsky.
“Paradise Square” is one of several Broadway productions contending with COVID-19 cases. “Plaza Suite” has also been dark since April 7 and has not yet set a resumption date. “A Strange Loop” has yet to perform its first Broadway preview and has extended cancellations until April 13.
