“Mrs. Doubtfire” began rehearsals Monday for its return to Broadway.
The cast for the musical’s return features Rob McClure in the lead role as Daniel Hillard. He is joined by returning cast members Jenn Gambates, Peter Bartlett, Charity Angél Dawson, Mark Evans, J. Harrison Ghee, Analise Scarpaci, Jake Ryan Flynn, Avery Sell and Brad Oscar.
The new musical had played three preview performances at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre before the pandemic forced the stoppage of the production, along with all other Broadway shows. It had originally been scheduled to open April 5, 2020.
“Mrs. Doubtfire” is set to resume performances at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Oct. 21, with an opening night scheduled for Dec. 5.
The ensemble includes returning cast members Cameron Adams, Calvin L. Cooper, Kaleigh Cronin, Maria Dalanno, Casey Garvin, David Hibbard, KJ Hippensteel, Aaron Kaburick, Erica Mansfield, Sam Middleton, Akilah Sailers, Jaquez André Sims and Aléna Watters. Brian Martin, Alexandra Matteo, LaQuet Sharnell Pringle and Travis Waldschmidt return to the company as swings. Jodi Kimura joins the company as an ensemble member and as Janet Lundy.
