The Broadway musical “Death Becomes Her” has canceled the Jan. 8, 2 p.m. matinée performance, due to illness. The announcement was made on the show’s Instagram account. At the time of publication, press representatives for the production could not confirm whether the 7:30 p.m. evening performance would go on as planned; Broadway News will update as more information is available.
Ticket holders for the matinée are instructed to contact their point of purchase for next steps.
Featuring a book by Marco Pennette and a score by Julia Matteson and Noel Carey, “Death Becomes Her” is based on the 1992 Universal Pictures film of the same name. The musical chronicles the escapades of long-time adversaries Madeline Ashton and Helen Sharp who, after taking a magical potion promising eternal youth, face off for the love and adoration of the same man. Following previews that began on Oct. 23, 2024, “Death Becomes Her” opened on Nov. 21 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli directs and choreographs a company led by Tony nominees Megan Hilty, Jennifer Simard and Christopher Sieber, and Grammy Award winner Michelle Williams.
“Death Becomes Her” is produced by Universal Theatrical Group, overseen by Jimmy Horowitz and led by Lowe Cunningham.
