‘Broadway Celebrates Earth Day’ concert to be held in Times Square

The Broadway Green Alliance, in partnership with the Times Square Alliance, is set to host the second annual "Broadway Celebrates Earth Day" concert in Times Square on April 22, also known as Earth Day.

The Broadway Green Alliance, in partnership with the Times Square Alliance, is set to host the second annual “Broadway Celebrates Earth Day” concert in Times Square on April 22, also known as Earth Day. As the kickoff to “Car-Free Earth Day” organized by NYC Department of Transportation, the event will be staged on Broadway between 45th and 46th Streets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Viewers can also livestream the concert via “Stars in the House.” Broadway stars will take the stage to sing out and demand climate action.

Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, who present “Stars in the House,”will host the concert. David Alpert will direct, with Rick Hip-Flores providing musical accompaniment.

Among the Broadway performers scheduled to appear during the morning portion of the show are Anika Larsen, Philippe Arroyo, Mara Davi, Jordan Dobson, Laurel Harris, Rick Lyon, Alli Mauzey, Michael James Scott, Jason Tam, Alysha Umphress and Ta-Tynisa Wilson. Additional performances will be announced.

The afternoon portion of the concert will include performances by students  from Cassie Okenka Voice Studio, Epic Players, Marymount Manhattan College, New York City Children’s Theatre, Perkiomen Valley High School, R.Evolución Latina and Wolf Performing Arts Center.

Founded in 2008, the Broadway Green Alliance is an ad hoc committee of the Broadway League and aims to implement more environmentally friendly practices on and off Main Stem stages. The committee is under the leadership of director Molly Braverman. The Times Square Alliance works to improve and promote the midtown neighborhood and is under the leadership of president Tom Harris.
