Jocelyn Bioh’s new play ‘Jaja’s African Hair Braiding’ sets Broadway run with Manhattan Theatre Club

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced the first production of its 2023-2024 Broadway season. “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding,” a world premiere written by Jocelyn Bioh, will open at the Friedman Theatre in the fall of 2023.

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced the first production of its 2023-2024 Broadway season.

“Jaja’s African Hair Braiding,” a world premiere written by Jocelyn Bioh, will open at the Friedman Theatre in the fall of 2023.

The production, which will mark the Broadway playwriting debut of Bioh (“School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play”), will be directed by Whitney White.

Performance dates and a full casting and creative team announcement will be shared in the coming months.

The play will be produced under the leadership of MTC’s artistic director Lynne Meadow and executive producer Barry Grove.
