‘Into the Woods’ extends Broadway run through January

The Broadway revival of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” has again extended its run.

Lead producer Jordan Roth has announced that the revival will now play through a final extension date of Jan. 8, 2023, at the St. James Theatre.

The production was originally scheduled to run through Aug. 21, then was extended through Oct. 16.

News of the latest extension comes as a handful of new cast members took their first bows on Sept. 6, including Montego Glover, Stephanie J. Block, Sebastian Arcelus, Krysta Rodriguez, Katy Geraghty, Jim Stanek and Andy Karl.

The current cast also includes Patina Miller, Gavin Creel, Joshua Henry, Ta’Nika Gibson, Annie Golden, Albert Guerzon, Brooke Ishibashi, Kennedy Kanagawa, David Patrick Kelly, Nancy Opel, Cole Thompson, Alysia Velez, Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Diane Phelan and Lucia Spina.

Casting for the remainder of the run will be announced shortly.

The production is directed by Lear deBessonet, with music direction by Rob Berman and choreography by Lorin Latarro.
