Cheyenne Jackson to fill in for Gavin Creel in ‘Into the Woods’ on Broadway

Cheyenne Jackson will temporarily fill in for Gavin Creel in “Into the Woods” on Broadway, Jordan Roth announced Tuesday. Jackson takes over the roles of The Wolf and Cinderella’s Prince from July 24 through Aug. 2 at the St. James Theatre.

Creel will step away to take residence at The O’Neill National Musical Theatre Conference where he will perform his new project, “Walk on Through: Confessions of a Museum Novice.”

He is scheduled to return to the transfer of the New York City Center Encores! production on Aug. 6.

Jackson has previously appeared on Broadway in “The Performers,” “Finian’s Rainbow,” “Xanadu,” “All Shook Up,” “Aida” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”

The James Lapine-Stephen Sondheim musical opened on Broadway on July 10 and runs through Aug. 21.

“Into the Woods” is produced on Broadway by Jujamcyn Theaters, Jordan Roth, New York City Center, Hunter Arnold, Nicole Eisenberg, Michael Cassel Group, Jessica R. Jenen, Daryl Roth, ShowTown Productions and Armstrong, Gold & Ross. Nicole Kastrinos serves as executive producer.
