“A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical” will open at Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre later this year, producers Ken Davenport and Bob Gaudio announced Wednesday.

The new musical will begin previews Nov. 2 ahead of an opening night set for Dec. 4.

An out-of-town tryout of the show will play Boston this summer, with rehearsals currently underway in New York. The cast for the six-week engagement will feature Will Swenson (“Hair”) in the title role, alongside Robyn Hurder (“Moulin Rouge!”), Mark Jacoby (“Show Boat”) and Linda Powell (“The Trip to Bountiful”). The Broadway cast will be confirmed at a later date.

Michael Mayer is set to direct the bio-musical, which features a book by Anthony McCarten, Diamond’s musical catalog and choreography from Steven Hoggett.

The creative team includes David Rockwell as scenic designer, Emilio Sosa as costume designer, Kevin Adams as lighting designer and Jessica Paz as sound designer.

The jukebox musical’s Broadway run will coincide with the 50th anniversary of Neil Diamond’s “One Man Show” concert series at the Winter Garden Theatre, which ran between Oct. 5 and Oct. 21, 1972.
