Lana Gordon will assume the role of Persephone full time in “Hadestown,” producers Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold and Tom Kirdahy said Wednesday.
Gordon, who has been serving as the Persephone alternate to Amber Gray since October, will take over the role starting Feb. 22.
Gray is set to play her final performance at the evening show on Feb. 19. She departs the production to take on the role of Banquo in the upcoming Broadway revival of “Macbeth.”
Gordon will star alongside several of the musical’s original cast members, including Patrick Page, Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney. She has previously appeared in “Chicago,” “The Lion King” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
“Hadestown” reopened at the Walter Kerr Theatre on Sept. 2, 2021. The production, directed by Rachel Chavkin and featuring a score by Anaïs Mitchell, was awarded the 2019 Tony Award for Best Musical.
