The Broadway cast of “Diana” has begun work on the filmed version of the musical and its cast recording.
Cast members began rehearsals on Sept. 1 and recently started recording the cast album, ahead of shooting the musical at the Longacre Theatre. As previously reported, the filming and recording process includes the isolation of cast and crew members to help prevent transmission of COVID-19.
The production previously announced a Netflix release date for the film in 2021.
The film is slated to feature the original cast of the musical, which includes Jeanna de Waal as Diana, Roe Hartrampf as Prince Charles, Erin Davie as Camilla Parker Bowles and Judy Kaye as Queen Elizabeth. Christopher Ashley is directing.
“Diana” has scheduled a Broadway opening for May 25, 2021.
