The matinee performance of “Jagged Little Pill” was cancelled Saturday after an audience member’s pepper spray went off during the show, according to a press representative for the production.

The pepper spray was deployed during the second act of the musical, at which time the audience was evacuated from the Broadhurst Theatre on 44th Street. There were two minor injuries as a result of the pepper spray, but the injured refused medical attention, according to the New York City Fire Department.

The New York Police Department arrived to the theater at 4:13 p.m. Saturday. “No criminal elements” were reported to the NYPD, according to a spokesperson for the police department.

The theater was cleared of the pepper spray and the Saturday evening performance of “Jagged Little Pill” went on as scheduled.

Ticket holders for the matinee received information on exchanging their tickets or receiving a refund, according to the press representative.
