The “KPOP” musical is planning a Broadway production.

In advance of the planned production, the musical, which centers on fictional stars of the popular music genre, will host a nationwide search for Korean, Korean-American, and Asian-American singers, dancers and actors. Those actors will take part in a planned work session this fall.

Publicists for the musical did not offer any further details on a Broadway timeline.

Tim Forbes and Joey Parnes are producing the musical.

Conceived by Woodshed Collective and Jason Kim, “KPOP” features a book by Kim, music and lyrics by Helen Park and Max Vernon and direction by Teddy Bergman. Produced by Ars Nova in association with Ma-Yi Theater and Woodshed Collective, it premiered at Off-Broadway in 2017.

The creative team includes choreographer Jennifer Weber and music director Sujin Kim-Ramsey.
