Jayne Houdyshell, Jefferson Mays join Broadway cast of ‘The Music Man’

Jayne Houdyshell and Jefferson Mays will join the cast of the upcoming revival of “The Music Man.” Houdyshell will play Mrs. Shinn, with Mays taking on the role of Mayor Shinn. They are joined by Marie Mullen as Mrs. Paroo and Shuler Hensley as Marcellus Washburn.

Jayne Houdyshell and Jefferson Mays will join the cast of the upcoming revival of “The Music Man.”

Houdyshell will play Mrs. Shinn, with Mays taking on the role of Mayor Shinn. They are joined by Marie Mullen as Mrs. Paroo and Shuler Hensley as Marcellus Washburn.

These cast members add on to the previously announced leads, Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman.

Houdyshell most recently appeared in “King Lear” on Broadway, with additional credits including “A Doll’s House: Part 2” and “The Humans,” for which she won a Tony Award. Mays returns to Broadway after playing starring roles in “Oslo” and “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.”

A founding member of the Druid Theatre Company, Mullen received a Tony Award for her role in “The Beauty Queen of Leenane.” Hensley was recently on Broadway in “The Ferryman,” with other credits including “No Man’s Land” and “Waiting for Godot.”

“The Music Man” is slated to begin performances on Sept. 9, 2020, ahead of an opening on Oct. 15, 2020, at a Shubert Theatre to be announced.
