Ed Harris to take over role of Atticus Finch in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’

Ed Harris, a four-time Oscar nominee and a Tony Award nominee for his role in “Precious Sons,” will take over the role of Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Harris takes over the role from Jeff Daniels, who will end his run on Nov. 3.

Ed Harris, a four-time Oscar nominee and a Tony Award nominee for his role in “Precious Sons,” will take over the role of Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Harris takes over the role from Jeff Daniels, who will end his run on Nov. 3. Daniels, who received a Tony nomination for his portrayal of Atticus, originated the role in this production, which began previews at the Shubert Theatre on Nov. 1, 2018.

Harris, who has starred in films including “Apollo 13” and “The Truman Show,” will play his first show on Nov. 5. His other Broadway credit was for “Taking Sides” in 1996.

The New York Times first reported the news of the casting.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” announced recoupment at the end of April. The play also has national tour planned with Richard Thomas as Atticus.
