Shonda Rhimes, Jada Pinkett Smith and Gabrielle Union-Wade have joined “American Son” as co-producers.

They join Simpson Street, the producing company of star Kerry Washington, as well as Jeffrey Richards, Rebecca Gold, Will Trice and more in producing the Broadway premiere of the play. Additional co-producers include basketball player Dwyane Wade, Steve Stoute, chief executive of Translation, a marketing agency, and Nnamdi Asomugha, an actor and husband to Washington.
