Kerry Washington, Steven Pasquale to star in ‘American Son’ this fall

Kerry Washington and Steven Pasquale will star in the Broadway premiere of “American Son” this fall.

Kenny Leon will direct the play, written by Christopher Demos-Brown. “American Son” will play a limited engagement, with previews beginning at the Booth Theatre on Oct. 6, 2018, with an official opening night Nov. 4, 2018.

Eugene Lee will also star in the play as Lieutenant John Stokes.

The play centers on a Florida police station where a mother is searching for her missing teenage son.

“After reading the script I was immediately enthralled by the world of the play and the gripping circumstances that these characters are facing,” Kerry Washington said in the press release.

Washington was last on Broadway in David Mamet’s play “Race” in 2009.

The play will feature scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Dede Ayite and sound design by Peter Fitzgerald.

“American Son” will be produced by Jeffrey Richards, who is also producing “The Lifespan of a Fact” this fall, Simpson Street, LLC, Rebecca Gold, Will Trice, Stephen Byrd, Alia Jones-Harvey, Bruce Robert Harris & Jack W. Batman, Greenleaf Productions, Van Kaplan and Gabrielle Palitz.
