Lilli Cooper, Sarah Stiles and more join cast of ‘Tootsie’

Lilli Cooper and Sarah Stiles will star alongside Santino Fontana in the musical adaptation of “Tootsie,” premiering in Chicago this fall.

Cooper, currently starring in “SpongeBob SquarePants,” will play Julie Nichols, co-star to Fontana’s Michael Dorsey/Dorothy Michaels. Stiles will play Dorsey’s actress friend Sandy Lester.

In addition to Cooper and Stiles, the Chicago cast includes John Behlmann as Max Van Horn, Andy Grotelueschen as Jeff Slater, Julie Halston as Rita Mallory, Michael McGrath as Stan Fields and Reg Rogers as Ron Carlisle. The musical, with a score by David Yazbek, will play the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago from Sept. 11 to Oct. 14.

The show, which is directed by Scott Ellis, is slated for a Broadway production in spring 2019. The musical’s book is by Robert Horn and Denis Jones is the choreographer.

The full company includes Sissy Bell, Barry Busby, Paula Leggett Chase, Britney Coleman, Leslie Donna Flesner, Jenifer Foote, John Arthur Greene, Drew King, Jeff Kready, Harris Milgrim, Adam Monley, Shina Ann Morris, James Moye, Katerina Papacostas, Diana Vaden and Anthony Wayne.

“Tootsie” is co-produced by James L. Nederlander and Sally Horchow.
