The “Working Girl” musical has announced Christopher Ashley as its director and Bridget Carpenter as its book writer.

They join the already announced Cyndi Lauper, who will write the score. Produced by Robyn Goodman and Josh Fiedler of Aged in Wood Productions and Kumiko Yoshii, the musical is planning an out-of-town developmental production in the 2021-2022 season.

Ashley, who is the artistic director of the La Jolla Playhouse, has directed “Come From Away,” “Escape to Margaritaville” and “Memphis” on Broadway, among others.

Carpenter, a television writer and producer who created the miniseries “11.22.63,” is replacing the previously announced Kim Rosenstock, who is no longer with the production due to scheduling conflicts.

The musical, which is described as “Broadway-aimed,” is presented by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical, the name under which Disney Theatrical Productions is licensing former Fox titles after its acquisition of Fox Stage Productions.
