“Wicked” is resuming its national tour this summer, marking the first Broadway tour to resume performances following the theatrical shutdown, according to Broadway Across America.

The musical will play the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas from Aug. 3, 2021 through Sept. 5. Touring engagements were paused following the March 12, 2020 Broadway shutdown, and some tours ended their runs prematurely due to the uncertain return date and expense of remounting productions.

Tickets for the Dallas engagement of “Wicked” will go on sale May 21. The tour will then move to Charlotte and Greensboro, N.C.; Appleton, Wis.; Cincinnati; Kansas City, Mo.; Costa Mesa, Cali.; Omaha, Neb. and Boston.

To prepare for the production, the Music Hall has upgraded its air filtration system, installed standalone HEPA air purifiers, increased the cleaning schedule of surfaces in the theater and modified the box office and ticket scanning stations to limit physical contact, according to the theater’s website. Masks will be required for audience members and food and drink cannot be consumed in the auditorium.

“We couldn’t be more honored and thrilled to present WICKED, not just as a return engagement in Dallas, but also as the first Broadway show to resume performances in the U.S.,” said Ken Novice, president of Dallas Summer Musicals, which is presenting the engagement.
