The Broadway revival of “West Side Story” will star Shereen Pimentel as Maria and Isaac Powell as Tony.
The revival, directed by Ivo van Hove and produced by Scott Rudin, Barry Diller and David Geffen, will feature a cast including 23 actors who are making their Broadway debuts. “West Side Story” will play the Broadway Theatre beginning Dec. 10, 2019, with an opening night on Feb. 6, 2020.
Pimentel, currently a recipient of a Kovner Fellowship at The Juilliard School, has been on Broadway once before as Young Nala in “The Lion King.” Powell was most recently on Broadway in the revival of “Once on This Island.”
Yesenia Ayala and Amar Ramasar, both in Rudin’s recent revival of “Carousel,” will take on the roles of Anita and Bernardo.
Other cast members include: Ben Cook as Riff, Ahmad Simmons as Diesel, Danny Wolohan as Officer Krupke, Jacob Guzman as Chino, Kevin Csolak as A-Rab, Matthew Johnson as Baby John, Dharon E. Jones as Action, Zuri Noelle Ford as Anybodys, Daniel Oreskes as Doc, Pippa Pearthree as Glad Hand, Thomas Jay Ryan as Lt. Schrank.
The revival features new choreography by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker.
