“Water for Elephants” has announced the return of its “Tent Talkback” series. The slate of post-performance events, initially offered in March, will feature members of the musical’s cast and creative team leading discussions on the creation of the musical. The talkbacks will take place after select Tuesday evening performances in August and September. Each discussion will delve into a different facet of the musical’s creation.
The first talkback will be held following the Aug. 13 evening performance, where co-choreographer Jesse Robb, co-choreographer and circus designer Shana Carroll and ensemble members Antoine Boissereau, Keaton Hentoff-Killian and Nicolas Jelmoni will discuss the musical’s acrobatics and choreography.
The next talkback, to be held on Aug, 20, will focus on puppetry, while the Aug. 27 talkback will discuss scenic and lighting elements.
On Sept. 3, Rick Elice, who received a Tony Award nomination for penning the musical’s book, and Stan Brown, who plays the role of Camel, will discuss adapting Sara Gruen’s 2006 novel for the stage.
During the talkback following the Sept. 10 performance, associate costume designer Matthew Hampton and assistant costume designer Devon Horn will chat about the design process for the show’s wardrobe.
Finally, the Sept. 17 talkback will encompass the topic of elephant conservation, led by Kitty Block from the Humane Society of the United States.
The series is free and open to ticket holders.
