Tony Award-winner Sutton Foster and actor Michael Urie are joining forces in the new Broadway show “Once Upon a Mattress.” They join TODAY to share their unique take on the hilarious reimagined classic. Featuring music by Mary Rodgers and lyrics by Marshall Barer, “Once Upon a Mattress” is a modern retelling of Hans Christian Anderson’s classic “Princess and the Pea” fairy tale. This production will feature an Amy Sherman Palladino-penned adaptation of the musical’s original book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Barer. “Mattress” will begin previews on July 31 and open on Aug. 12 for a limited engagement through Nov. 30 at the Hudson Theatre.
