Samuel L. Jackson was honored by the Museum of Modern Art’s Film Benefit on Oct. 23. Jackson discussed the acknowledgment on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, which included mention of reprising his Tony Award-nominated turn in the new film adaptation of August Wilson’s “The Piano Lesson.”
Featuring direction by Malcolm Washington, the “Piano Lesson” movie will debut in select U.S. cinemas on Nov. 8 ahead of a Nov. 22 drop date on Netflix. Jackson received a Best Featured Actor in a Play Tony nomination for his turn as Doaker Charles in the 2022 Main Stem revival. He made his Broadway debut as an understudy in the 1990 original Broadway staging.
