Cynthia Erivo, a Tony Award winner for her turn in the 2015 revival of “The Color Purple,” appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert to chat about how she got into character for the role of Elphaba in the upcoming film adaptation of “Wicked.”  Erivo also shared her thoughts on the Broadway community and what pride means to her.

Erivo will star in “Wicked” opposite Ariana Grande, who will play Glinda Featuring direction by Jon M. Chu, the film adaptation of the long-running musical will be released in two parts; the first will premiere on Nov. 27.
