The cast of Broadway’s “Illinoise” appeared on ABC’s “The View” on July 16. Brandt Martinez led the company in a performance of the song “Man of Metropolis.”
“Illinoise” tells several stories through dance in a campfire setting, against the soundscape of the music of Sufjan Stevens’ 2005 concept album of the same name. Featuring direction and choreography by Justin Peck and a book by Peck and Jackie Sibblies Drury, the musical opened on April 24 at the St. James Theatre and is scheduled to play a limited engagement through Aug. 10. The production was nominated for four Tony Awards, winning for Peck’s choreography.
