The Broadway League, the national trade association for the Broadway industry, held its annual Spring Road Conference in May. 2024 Tony Award nominee Nikki M. James offered a performance of her solo “Wait My Turn” from the new musical “Suffs.”
Featuring book, music and lyrics by Shaina Taub, “Suffs” chronicles the challenges faced by the suffragists, both among the members of the movement, as well as those opposed to it. Leigh Silverman directs the musical, which opened on April 18 at the Music Box Theatre and is currently nominated for six 2024 Tony Awards, including nods for Taub, Silverman and James, as well as for Best Musical.
