Travis LeMont Ballenger, formerly the associate artistic director at San Diego’s Globe Theater, has joined Lia Vollack Productions as a producer.
As part of the production company, started by former Sony executive Lia Vollack, Ballenger will help oversee the Broadway productions of “MJ,” “Almost Famous” and on the development of future shows.
“Throughout his career, Travis has already distinguished himself as a true creative force,” Vollack said in a press release. “He is a passionate theater maker and an outspoken advocate for artists. I am so thrilled that Travis is joining me and I know my company, our shows, and Broadway will be so much richer for having his voice in the room.”
Ballenger previously worked as a line producer at Arena Stage and as associate producer for the Hip-Hop Theater Festival in New York and Washington D.C. He has developed work from artists including Katori Hall, Lynn Nottage, Sarah Treem, Pearl Cleage, Lydia R. Diamond and Radha Blank.
Before forming her own production company, Vollack worked for Sony Pictures Entertainment and built its theater division, Columbia Live Stage.
