The world premiere of the John Kander musical “The Beast in the Jungle” announced its principal cast members including Tony Yazbeck.
The musical, which will play the Vineyard Theatre in May 2018, will star Yazbeck alongside Irina Dvorovenko, a former principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre. Peter Friedman and Teagle F. Bougere. In addition to Kander, the creative team includes playwright David Thompson and director and choreographer Susan Stroman.
The trio previously collaborated on “The Scottsboro Boys,” which transferred to Broadway in 2010.
The show begins previews May 4, 2018 and opens May 23.
“The Beast in the Jungle” was adapted from the 1903 novel by Henry James. The story follows John Marcher, as he confronts personal demons and contends with a long-term love affair.
