The Tony Awards Administration Committee has revealed its first round of eligibility rulings for the 2024-2025 Broadway season. The committee made determinations for 11 productions that have opened so far this season, including “Home,” “Oh, Mary!,” “Job,” “Once Upon a Mattress,” “The Roommate,” “The Hills of California,” “McNeal,” “Yellow Face,” “Our Town,” “Left on Tenth” and “Romeo + Juliet.”

The committee meets several times per season to confirm if a production has completed all requirements, as laid out in the Tony Awards Rules and Regulations, to be eligible for the annual awards and to determine in which of the 26 competitive categories each element of a production will be placed.

The committee made the following determinations:

Tory Kittles will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play category for his performance as Cephus Miles in “Home.”

Cole Escola will be considered eligible for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play category for their performance as Mary Todd Lincoln in “Oh, Mary!”

Peter Friedman and Sydney Lemmon will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by an Actor/Actress in a Leading Role in a Play category for their respective performances as Loyd and Jane in “Job.”

Laura Donnelly will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play category for her performance as Veronica/Joan in “The Hills of California.”

Scenic designer Michael Yeargan and scenic and projection designer Jake Barton will be considered jointly eligible in the Best Scenic Design of a Play category for their work on “McNeal.”

“Yellow Face” will be considered eligible in the Best Revival of Play category. Playwright David Henry Hwang will be considered eligible in this category as author.

Jim Parsons will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play category for his performance as the Stage Manager in “Our Town.”

Scenic designer Beowulf Boritt and projection designer Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew will be considered jointly eligible in the Best Scenic Design of a Play category for their work on “Left on Tenth.”

All other eligibility will be consistent with opening-night credits for each production. This refers to the credits listed on a production’s title page as printed in the opening-night program. Unless indicated above, performers whose names are printed above the production’s title are eligible in leading actor/actress categories; performers listed below the production’s title will be considered in featured actor/actress categories. Projection designers are noted here as there is no category specifically for the discipline; the committee can approve placing those designers in scenic or lighting categories. Hwang is eligible alongside “Yellow Face”’s producers in the Best Revival of a Play category according to a rule introduced in 2019, which allows living playwrights of revivals to be eligible if the production has never before appeared on Broadway.

As previously reported, all productions must open by April 27, 2025 to be considered for this season’s Tony Awards; nominations will be revealed on May 1.

The 78th annual Tony Awards ceremony will take place on June 8, 2025, at Radio City Music Hall. The Tony Awards are presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
