Harold Pinter’s “Betrayal” will transfer to Broadway from the West End.
The play, produced by the Jamie Lloyd Company, will star Tom Hiddleston, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox, who are all making their Broadway debuts after playing the roles on the West End earlier this year. Jamie Lloyd, the artistic director of the Jamie Lloyd Company, which is in partnership with the Ambassador Theatre Group, is the director.
Eddie Arnold joins the Broadway cast as “the Waiter.”
The play opens at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on Sept. 5, with previews beginning Aug. 14. It is slated for a 17-week engagement.
This is the third revival of “Betrayal” on Broadway, with the most recent happening in 2013, starring Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz.
Hiddleston and Cox, who will star as Robert and Jerry, respectively, have both played high-profile superheroes on screen. Hiddleston has played the villain Loki in the Marvel films, and Cox was the lead in Netflix’s Daredevil.
Ashton, who plays Emma, has on-screen credits including “Velvet Buzzsaw” and the television series “Wanderlust.”
The creative team includes scenic and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting design by Jon Clark, and sound design and music by Ben and Max Ringham.
“Betrayal” takes over the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre after the departure of “The Ferryman” on July 7.
