The Tina Turner musical, entitled “Tina — The Tina Turner Musical,” will open at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the fall, the producers announced Thursday.
The musical, which is currently playing on the West End, will begin previews on Oct. 12, 2019, with an opening night set for Nov. 7. “Tina” will take over the theater after the “In Residence on Broadway” series, which is slated to run there from May through July.
Adrienne Warren has already been announced to reprise the title role, which she is currently playing in London.
The musical is directed by Phyllida Lloyd and written by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins.
“Tina” will be produced on Broadway by Stage Entertainment, James L. Nederlander and Tali Pelman. The West End production, produced by Stage Entertainment, Joop van den Ende and Pelman, is ongoing and is selling tickets through Dec. 21, 2019. It is presented in association with Tina Turner.
