“The Queen of Versailles” has officially announced an upcoming Broadway run. The previously announced musical starring Kristin Chenoweth will make its Broadway premiere in the 2025-2026 season. Bill Damaschke, Seaview and Diva Worldwide Entertainment (Chenoweth’s production company) will produce the musical, which features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Lindsey Ferrentino.

Featuring direction by Michael Arden, “The Queen of Versailles” began performances of a pre-Broadway engagement on July 16 at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre. The production will officially open on Aug. 1 for a limited run through Aug. 25.

“The entire ‘Queen of Versailles’ company is having an incredible time building this new original American musical with the gracious and arts-loving audiences in Boston,” said the musical’s producers in a statement. “We look forward to the journey ahead and bringing this story to Broadway in the 2025-2026 season.”

In addition to Chenoweth, the Boston company of “Queen of Versailles” includes F. Murray Abraham, Melody Butiu, Stephen DeRosa, Greg Hildreth, Tatum Grace Hopkins, Isabel Keating and Nina White.

Based on Lauren Greenfield’s 2012 documentary of the same name, “The Queen of Versailles” follows the rise and fall of Orlando billionaires Jackie (Chenoweth) and David Siegel (Abraham).
