Producers Brian Anthony Moreland, Sonia Friedman, Tom Kirdahy, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker have announced that the Jan. 26 performance of "The Piano Lesson" will be filmed for the Lincoln Center Theatre on Film and Tape Archives.

Trai Byers, who departed the production on Jan. 15, will return for the taping, which will feature the complete original revival cast.

The play stars Samuel L. Jackson, Danielle Brooks and John David Washington. The company also includes Charles Browning, Rosalyn Coleman, Nadia Daniel, Peter Jay Fernandez, Ray Fisher, Sharina Martin, April Matthis, Warner J. Miller, Doron JéPaul Mitchell, Michael Potts, Kim Sullivan and Jurnee Elizabeth Swan.

The filming comes following the announcement that the prop piano at the center of the production will be donated to The Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., after the show closes on Jan. 29.

LaTanya Richardson Jackson directs the revival, which opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Oct. 13, 2022. The production was originally slated to run through Jan. 15 but received a two-week extension.
