The Sat. Jan. 25, 2:00 p.m. matinée performance of “The Outsiders” was canceled. Ticket-buyers have been instructed to contact their point of purchase for information about refunds and exchanges.
“There was a Con Edison power outage that prevented the show from going on,” a spokesperson for the production told Broadway News regarding the matinée’s cancellation. The 8:00 p.m. performance will proceed as planned.
“The Outsiders” features a Tony Award-nominated book by Adam Rapp and Justine Levine and a Tony-nominated score by Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance) and Levine.
Based on the 1967 novel by Susie Hinton and the 1983 film adaptation by Francis Ford Coppola, the Tulsa-set musical is a coming-of-age story of two rival teenage gangs, the Greasers and the Socs. The Danya Taymor-directed musical opened on Broadway on April 11, 2024, and received 12 Tony Award nominations, winning four, including trophies for Best Musical and Taymor’s direction.
“The Outsiders” is produced by the Araca Group, American Zoetrope, Olympus Theatricals, Sue Gilad & Larry Rogowsky and Angelina Jolie.
