“The Notebook,” the new musical based on Nicholas Sparks’ 1996 novel and the 2004 film, will end its Broadway run on Dec. 15 at the Schoenfeld Theatre. “The Notebook” began previews on Feb. 10 and opened on March 14. By closing, the musical will have played 35 previews and 317 regular performances.

Co-directed by Michael Greif and Schele Williams and featuring a book by Bekah Brunstetter with a score by Ingrid Michaelson, “The Notebook” chronicles the love story of Allie and Noah, young lovers from opposite worlds who confront a lifetime of obstacles.

Heading the musical’s cast is Maryann Plunkett as Older Allie, Dorian Harewood as Older Noah, Joy Woods as Middle Allie, Ryan Vasquez as Middle Noah, Jordan Tyson as Younger Allie and John Cardoza as Younger Noah. Casting is by the Telsey Office.

“The Notebook” received three 2024 Tony Award nominations, including a nod for Brunstetter’s book and the leading performances of Plunkett and Harewood, but ultimately the show went home empty-handed.

A previously announced national tour of the musical will launch in September 2025 at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio, with additional cities to be announced.

Michaelson’s score is preserved on an original cast recording from Atlantic Records.

“The Notebook” is produced by Kevin McCollum and Kurt Deutsch.
