“The Little Prince” will begin previews at the Broadway Theatre one month later than initially scheduled, Broadway Entertainment Group announced Thursday.
The show will now begin previews on March 29 and open on April 11. The change allows the production more time to bring its international company to New York City and deal with the related challenges of doing so during a pandemic, according to the production.
“The Little Prince” was originally scheduled to start performances March 4 ahead of an opening night on March 17. The show is selling tickets through Aug. 14.
Several other productions, including “for colored girls…,” “Mr. Saturday Night” and “Paradise Square,” have pushed their Broadway dates in response to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in New York City.
“The Little Prince” comes to Broadway after having played engagements in Sydney, Paris and Dubai. The show, based on the classic book of the same name, is directed and choreographed by Anne Tournié with libretto adaptation and co-direction by Chris Mouron.
