“The Hills of California” will run for two weeks longer than originally planned. The new Jez Butterworth play was originally announced for a limited engagement through Dec. 8 at the Broadhurst Theatre. The drama will now continue through Dec. 22. The news was announced in advance of the production’s Sept. 29 opening night.

“The Hills of California” follows four former singing-and-dancing sisters who descend upon their coastal England home to care for their dying mother. The siblings reflect on how a shot at fame in their youth changed the trajectory of their lives. The cast is led by Laura Donnelly, Leanne Best, Ophelia Lovibond and Helena Wilson.

The “Hills” extension marks the fourth new production of the 2024-2025 Broadway season to add additional playing weeks. Cole Escola’s “Oh, Mary!” has twice extended its limited run, while Max Wolf Friedlich’s “Job” and the upcoming revival of “Romeo + Juliet” both added on an extra month of performances.

“The Hills California” is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, No Guarantees Productions, Neal Street, Brian Spector and Sand & Snow Entertainment, with Stephanie P. McClelland.
