Manhattan Theatre Club and the Young Vic Theatre have announced that “The Collaboration” will open on Broadway this fall.
MTC’s artistic director Lynne Meadow and executive producer Barry Grove and the Young Vic Theatre’s artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah and executive director Lucy Davies shared that the production will begin previews on Nov. 29 with an opening night set for Dec. 20 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
The American premiere of the Anthony McCarten-penned play will feature Paul Bettany as Andy Warhol and Jeremy Pope as Jean-Michel Basquiat. Kwei-Armah will direct.
A full cast and creative team announcement is expected at a later date.
Pope has previously been seen on Broadway in MTC’s “Choir Boy” and “Ain’t Too Proud,” while this production marks Bettany’s Broadway debut.
The world premiere of the play was produced by the Young Vic Theatre London earlier this year.
“The Collaboration” will be presented by special arrangement with Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Anthology Theatre, Stanley Buchthal and Denis O’Sullivan.
