The Broadway musical “The Great Gatsby” will welcome a new principal actor. Three-time Tony Award nominee Terrence Mann will take on the role of Meyer Wolfsheim beginning on Jan. 8, 2025, playing a limited engagement through April 20 at the Broadway Theatre. Mann will succeed original company member Eric Anderson, who will play his final performance on Jan. 5.
On Broadway, Mann originated the roles of Rum Tum Tugger in “Cats” and Javert in “Les Misérables,” the latter of which earned him an inaugural Tony nomination. Mann received additional nominations for “Beauty and the Beast” and “Pippin.” He most recently appeared on Broadway in “Tuck Everlasting.”
Mann will join “The Great Gatsby” ahead of a previously announced Jan. 16, 2025 gala performance celebrating the centennial of the original F. Scott Fitzgerald novel upon which the musical is based.
In addition to Anderson, the current company of “Gatsby” includes Jeremy Jordan as Jay Gatsby (through Jan. 19, 2025), Eva Noblezada as Daisy Buchanan, Noah J. Ricketts as Nick Carraway, Samantha Pauly as Jordan Baker, Sara Chase as Myrtle Wilson, John Zdrojeski as Tom Buchanan and Charlie Pollock as George Wilson. As previously announced, Ryan McCartan will take over for Jordan beginning on Jan. 21. Casting for “The Great Gatsby” is by C12 Casting.
“The Great Gatsby” features a score by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen and a book by Kait Kerrigan. The production features direction by Marc Bruni, choreography by Dominique Kelley and musical direction by Daniel Edmonds. Following previews that began on March 29, “The Great Gatsby” opened on April 25. Linda Cho won a 2024 Tony Award for her work as the production’s costume designer.
“The Great Gatsby” is produced by Chunsoo Shinn.
