On the heels of its March 24 release of a digital cast recording, the new musical “Some Like It Hot” has produced a CD version of the album, available on July 7.
The cast recording features the Tony Award-nominated score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and Tony-winning orchestrations of Charlie Rosen and Bryan Carter. The album is produced by Shaiman and Scott M. Riesett, with co-producers Rosen, Carter and Mary-Mitchell Campbell.
Featuring a Tony-nominated book by Matthew López and Amber Ruffin, “Some Like It Hot” is set in Prohibition-era Chicago and follows two musicians who are forced to flee the Windy City after witnessing a mob hit. With gangsters after them, they’re on the run as the newest members of a big band.
The original cast recording features 2023 Tony winner J. Harrison Ghee and 2023 Tony nominees Christian Borle, NaTasha Yvette Williams and Kevin Del Aguila, along with Adrianna Hicks, Adam Heller, Mark Lotito, Angie Schworer, Tia Altinay, TyNia René Brandon, Ian Campayno, Gabi Campo, DeMarius R. Copes, Casey Garvin, Devon Hadsell, Ashley Elizabeth Hale, Jenny Hill, KJ Hippensteel, Jarvis B. Manning Jr., Brian Martin, Abby Matsusaka, Amber Owens, Kayla Pecchioni, Charles South, Brendon Stimson, Raena White, Julius Williams and Richard Riaz Yoder.
In addition to the Tony wins for Ghee’s performance and Rosen and Carter’s orchestrations, “Some Like It Hot” took home 2023 trophies for the choreography of Casey Nicholaw and the costume design of Gregg Barnes.
A vinyl release of the “Some Like It Hot” cast album is scheduled for Sept. 1.
