‘Smash’ cancels matinée performance on March 15

The cancellation is due to an illness in the cast.

The 2 p.m. matinée performance of “Smash” was canceled on March 15. The new musical’s Instagram account posted about the cancellation.

“‘Smash’ is about the complex challenges of putting on a musical, and sometimes that includes an illness in the company,” the post reads. “We unfortunately have to cancel today’s matinée performance, but look forward to seeing you soon.”

Ticket holders are instructed to inquire with their point of purchase for information about refunds and exchanges.

Susan Stroman directs the musical which features choreography by Joshua Bergasse and music supervision by Stephen Oremus. The “Smash” cast is led by Robyn Hurder as Ivy Lynn and Caroline Bowman as Karen.

The new musical began preview performances on March 11 and is scheduled to officially open on April 10 at the Imperial Theatre.

“Smash” is being produced by Steven Spielberg, Robert Greenblatt, Neil Meron and Jennifer Hudson.
