All Broadway theaters will dim their lights Wednesday evening to honor Marin Mazzie, who passed away Sept. 13 at the age of 57.
The decision to dim the lights of all 41 Broadway theaters came Monday night, as a result of “community support,” according to the Broadway League. Initially, the Committee of Theatre Owners announced six theaters in which Mazzie had performed or celebrated career milestones.
The light dimming will occur at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
In addition to the dimming of lights, the Nederlander Theatre, where Mazzie’s husband Jason Danieley is currently playing a featured role in “Pretty Woman,” will dedicate the performance to her that evening.
Members of the theater community had spoken out against the fact that only select theaters had opted to dim their lights as of Friday’s announcement.

The Lyric Theater, where Mazzie starred in “Ragtime” and Lincoln Center Theater, where Mazzie starred in “The King and I,” which are not part of the Committee of Theatre Owners, had both tweeted after the announcement that they would also dim their lights.
The original theaters that announced they would dim lights were the Al Hirschfield, Broadhurst, Gershwin, Gerald Schoenfeld, St. James and Nederlander Theatre.
