Sarah Hyland is making her way back to Broadway. The stage-and-screen star will take over the leading role of Daisy Buchanan in Broadway’s musical adaptation of “The Great Gatsby” in 2025. Hyland will begin performances on Feb. 10, replacing original cast member Eva Noblezada, who, as previously announced, will exit the musical on Jan. 30. From Jan. 31 through Feb. 9, the role of Daisy will be alternately played by the production’s understudies, Traci Elaine Lee and Kayla Pecchioni.

Hyland made her Broadway debut in 2006 as Jacqueline “Jackie” Bouvier in “Grey Gardens.” Since then, Hyland rose to fame playing the series-regular role of Haley Dunphy on the Emmy Award-winning comedy series “Modern Family,” sharing four Screen Actors Guild Award wins with her fellow cast. Earlier this year, Hyland appeared on the Off-Broadway stage as Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Hyland will co-star in “The Great Gatsby” alongside Ryan McCartan, who will replace Jeremy Jordan in the title role on Jan. 21. Also newly joining the cast will be Terrence Mann, taking over as Wolfsheim from Jan. 8 through April 20; Eric Anderson will continue in that role until Jan. 5.

The “Great Gatsby” musical’s current principal company also includes Noah J. Ricketts as Nick Carraway, Samantha Pauly as Jordan Baker, Sara Chase as Myrtle Wilson, John Zdrojeski as Tom Buchanan and Charlie Pollock as George Wilson.

Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel and featuring direction by Marc Bruni, choreography by Dominique Kelley and music direction by Daniel Edmonds, “The Great Gatsby” has a book by Kait Kerrigan and a score by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen. The musical began previews on March 29 and opened on April 25 at the Broadway Theatre.

The musical won a 2024 Tony Award for Linda Cho’s costume design and released an original cast album in June.

“The Great Gatsby” is produced by Chunsoo Shin.
