Ricky Rojas will return to Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge!” The original cast member is scheduled to step back into the role of Santiago on March 26 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. He will succeed Gabe Martínez, who will play his final performance on March 24.

This will mark Rojas’ third tenure as Santiago on the Main Stem. Rojas originated the role when the musical opened on July 25, 2019, and returned with the production in September 2021 following the COVID-induced suspension of performances. After leaving the production in May 2022, he assumed the role again from April to September 2023. Rojas made his Broadway debut in 2009’s “Burn the Floor.”

In addition to Martínez, the current cast of “Moulin Rouge!” includes Courtney Reed as Satine, Tony Award nominee Derek Klena as Christian, Tony nominee Boy George as Harold Zidler, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as the Duke of Monroth and Sophie Carmen-Jones as Nini. Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Stephen Kopel.

The winner of ten 2020 Tony Awards, “Moulin Rouge!” features direction by Tony winner Alex Timbers and choreography by Tony winner Sonya Tayeh. In Tony winner Josh Logan’s book based on the 2001 film of the same name, the musical follows the fate of young writer Christian and his lover, Satine, the star of Paris’ Moulin Rouge nightclub. The production recouped in 2022.

“Moulin Rouge!” is produced by Carmen Pavlovic and Gerry Ryan OAM for Global Creatures and Bill Damaschke.
