Orfeh to join Broadway’s ‘Chicago’ as Matron Mama Morton

The Tony Award nominee will return to the Main Stem for the first time since 2018.

The Broadway company of “Chicago” will welcome Tony Award-nominated performer Orfeh in the role of Matron Mama Morton for a limited engagement starting on Aug. 26 through Sep. 15. Orfeh will take over the role from Tony nominee NaTasha Yvette Williams, who plays her final performance on Aug. 25. The production continues at the Ambassador Theatre.

Orfeh earned her Tony nomination for her turn as Paulette in “Legally Blonde: The Musical.” Her Main Stem credits also include Kit De Luca in “Pretty Woman: The Musical and Annette in “Saturday Night Fever.”

She will join Robyn Hurder as Velma Kelly (through Sept. 15) and Ariana Madix as Roxie Hart (through Sept. 1). Recently announced, Alyssa Milano will make her Broadway debut in the musical this fall. Casting is by ARC/Duncan Stewart and Patrick Maravilla.

“Chicago” features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Ebb. It is produced by Barry and Fran Weissler.
