Broadway’s box office took a dip during the week ending Aug. 18. The 25 currently running shows earned a collective $28,132,262, down 8.6% from the week ending Aug.11, when 26 shows were playing. Attendance took a slightly smaller dive, decreasing 7.1% to 225,384 total Main Stem admissions. Available seats in theaters were filled to 91.8% capacity, a dip of 2.5 percentage points.
Despite these drops, week 13 of the 2024-2025 season proved significantly higher on all fronts compared to week 13 of the 2023-2024 season, when one additional show was playing. This week’s $28.1 million total ducats proved 9.0% greater than the gross earned during the week ending Aug. 20, 2023. Attendance was up 5.7% over this week last season, and capacity marked a 6.5 percentage increase.
