Roundabout Theatre Company will launch a North American tour of “A Soldier’s Play” starring Norm Lewis.
The 20-week tour is set to begin in December 2022, with tour stops and additional casting to be announced at a later date.
The Charles Fuller play had a Broadway run at Roundabout’s American Airlines Theatre in early 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic forced its early closure. That production, directed by Kenny Leon, won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play at the 2021 awards ceremony.
Lewis, a Tony-nominated performer with 14 Broadway credits, will assume the role of Captain Richard Davenport. Blair Underwood played the part on Broadway.
Leon returns to direct the tour, working alongside the Broadway creative team, including set designer Derek McLane, costume designer Dede Ayite, lighting designer Allen Lee Hughes and sound designer Dan Moses Schreier.
Roundabout Theatre Company and Tamar Climan are producing the tour.
