Casting is complete for the upcoming Broadway staging of Jason Robert Brown’s musical “The Last Five Years.” Noah Kieserman will serve as standby for the role of Jamie, while Nasia Thomas will do the same for the role of Cathy. The previously announced production will begin previews on March 18 and open on April 6 at the Hudson Theatre. The musical, which will feature direction by Whitney White, choreography by Jeff Kuperman and Rick Kuperman and music direction by Tom Murray, is scheduled to play a limited engagement through June 22.

Kieserman made his Broadway debut replacing in the role of Connor Murphy in “Dear Evan Hansen.” Kieserman opened the national tour of “Dear Evan Hansen” as the understudy for Evan, Jared and Connor, eventually assuming the latter role full time. Thomas recently completed a year-long tenure as Anna of Cleves in Broadway’s “SIX.” Thomas’ additional Main Stem credits include “Caroline, or Change,” “Ain’t Too Proud” and “Beautiful.”

“The Last Five Years” will star Nick Jonas as Jamie, a writer, and Adrienne Warren as Cathy, an actor. The musical follows the duo’s five-year relationship; Jamie tells his story chronologically, while Cathy offers her perspective going backwards in time. Casting is by Taylor Williams.

As previously announced, Brown will create new orchestrations for the musical’s long-awaited Broadway bow.

“The Last Five Years” is being produced by Seaview, ATG Productions and the Season.
