Nicole Scherzinger, star of the new Broadway revival of “Sunset Boulevard,” has scheduled six additional appearances in the musical. Scherzinger will now perform the role of Norma Desmond on the following Tuesdays: April 8 and 29, May 6, 13 and 27, and June 10. Mandy Gonzalez had been scheduled to play the role at those performances.
Jamie Lloyd directs the new production of the musical featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and a book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, which began previews on Sept. 28, 2024, and officially opened on Oct. 20 at the St. James Theatre. This “Sunset Boulevard” is a transfer from London, where it won seven 2024 Olivier Awards, including prizes for Scherzinger, Lloyd and the production itself. The Broadway transfer is scheduled to close on July 13.
“Being able to play Norma for the past 18 months, first on the West End and now on Broadway, has been the gift of a lifetime,” said Scherzinger in a statement. “Andrew and Jamie have given me an unexpected dream role for which I will be forever grateful. Being able to add these six additional performances before I put my version of this character to rest alongside the most talented cast and crew is a way for me to celebrate a truly remarkable piece of theater.”
“Nicole Scherzinger gives a performance for the ages and we are thrilled there are now more chances to see it,” added Lloyd Webber.
“Sunset Boulevard” is produced by the Jamie Lloyd Company, ATG Productions, Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals and Gavin Kalin Productions by arrangement with The Really Useful Group Ltd.
